Need help fast please (with charging smt-5600)

Thought I could just bring my USB charge/sync cable on travel to my parents house to just charge my phone. When I plug the phone into their laptop (no Activesync installed), I get the usual "New USB device found" menus. The machine can't find the driver, so the phone won't charge. I didn't think I needed a driver to just charge the phone from the USB port. Do I need to download Activesync just to get this function? Or is there another way to do this?

Tried to save space and left the "wall wart" at home :)

oh man... that sucks. I didn't think you needed AS to charge but I've never attempted it. The quickest thing would be to install AS and see if it makes a difference. :?

Not sure about quickest, they are on dial-up here :lol:
Would take forever to do that. Luckily I remembered to pack the car charger :D

After being spoiled with DSL, I think I would rather have no internet than dial-up :)
