I've always liked CorePlayer. Alas it is no longer free but well worth the cost.

Yeah I just bought it using the code. You can't run it until you enter the registration code which you have to send an email to get. Irritating to say the least.

Not a clue. What's rtsp?

I think that's RealPlayer.

Is it just me, or does it look like the announcement page has been hacked?

I also found this blog (http://solsie.wordpress.com/2006/03/26/tcpmp-coreplayer-major-announcement-is-eminent/), which says a free version will continue to be developed.

EDIT: The posting is from March, apparently, so I'm not sure if there is still a free version.

I can't seem to get to any of the TCPMP sites at the moment. Not sure what that means.

you start working 18 hour days and look at all the conversation you miss :)

personally, until TCPMP breaks or stops working, i see no reason to upgrade. my screen is to tiny to care about the new skins and with all the time i spend at work, who has time to watch videos on their device? :(

The March announcement (linked above) said they would have a two versions: betaplayer (free) and coreplayer ($$). The products page currently has a link to betaplayer (http://www.corecodec.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=55), but the link doesn't work (for me, at least). I agree - I would pay some money for this (in fact, I think I donated some in the beginning), but I don't need anything beyond MPEG-4/MP3 video support, and I don't see that being worth $25 (or $20). Plus, based on a quick perusal of their forums, CorePlayer appears to be a step back at this point.
