I haven't had much face time with the StarTrek (or Cingular 3125, Qtek 8500, i-mate Smartflip, Dopod.... ). So I wasn't aware that you could easily change the background image on the external display to anything you wanted. Which is pretty cool to say the least. When Jerry posted about his new custom screen (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12530&highlight=) over the weekend I immediately thought about making some cool Smartphone Thoughts graphics for everyone to use and enjoy on their device. Download and collect all four! They're free for any Smartphone user to use and enjoy. ;) Just right click on the image(s) and select Save Picture As. Copy the picture to your phone and change the settings to point to this lovely work of art.

If you've created some fancy image for your external display, why not share it with everyone else. Just post a reply to this thread and share your cool graphics with everyone.

UPDATE: Here are some updated versions. I've made an attempt to pull the graphics closer together and out of the way of the clock.

In case anyone is sure, put the images in the \Application Data\Home folder.

If I had a HTC Star Trek, then I would have something like this

or

Then again I am a HUGE Star Trek fan :D

This is really cool, but I hate the digital clock HTC puts at the bottom of their screen, and the close is the most important thing I use the external screen for...so I'm back to having no image as the background. It's kind of stupid they don't allow you to have a big clock AND a background...

I agree about the clock. The only other option is to turn it off completely. :?

Still this doesn't look too bad.

Hey could you take a picture of the whole phone with the external screen showing this logo :D

I hear ya. So what if I resized the images to move the bottom of the phone and image up and out of the clock's way? The background colour isn't a problem, right? Also, what about the other image with just a banner across the centre that says Smartphone thougths? That should work nicely the way it is, right?

Hello I am new to the site.

I have the cingular 3125 AKA: Star Tek.

I try to make a pic. of the green hulk which I had to shuink to 128 X 128 but the pic. got distorted the the true pic. was Width 350 Pixels, Height 279 Pixels. I use jasc Paint Shop. What can I do to make this pic fit the 128 X 128. If anyone wants to help I can send you the pic and one can shuink for me with a background in black or can tell me how to do it..

Thanks for the help

Your original isn't square. So if you resize down to square it will distort the image. First thing to do is crop the image to make it square. so it was 350x279, you need to make it 279x279 then resize it down to 128. ;)

Yeah, I was mistaken. It's actually 128x128. But the 2 extra pixels shouldn't be missed. ;)

Of course its hard to tell here because it is so pixelated. If you see it on the phone though, it looks really good. The background color isn't a problem. I think it looks good. You would need to create an image with a black band on the bottom. If you shrink it up, the phone will just stretch it to fill the display.

Ok, I've made some changes and posted a new set that should make it easier to see the clock. 8)

I wish I had a 3125 just so I could play with these.

[guys, you're killing me here with the quoting of full-sized images, browse on your Smartphone and you'll see why that's not so cool]

Sorry about that. Didn't think of that

Does Smartphone Thoughts have a mobile forum like PPCT? I tried going to the forum from the mobile SPT, and it brought up the desktop forum?

Hmm. Have you hacked your user agent string on the phone? Mobile forums are 100% open to everyone right now.

I am running the Opera 8.60 for Symbian browser atm on my Sony Ericsson M600i with no hacks.

That might be the problem. I'm guessing that we don't sniff out the browser agent correctly for your device. :(

Is there any way to make it so that it does recognise my device? Or is there an URL I can go to to force my phone to display the mobile page?
