Well, I tried to install the demo CAB file on my 2003SE smartphone and when the End-User agreement screen appeared, there is no way to acknowledge it and continue the installation 8O

(Both soft-keys are blank and pressing any key does not work)

Hrm, it's there for me. Did you download the right file? it's a little confusing. The windows installer is for the PPC. You'll need to select the CAB and then pick the WM5_SP version from the list.

Jason described a familiar situation. This liitle tool comes in very handy for my Smartphone.

Unable to order the Smartphone version yet (blanc Minibrand Handango page). I'll try later. This is one for my collection ;)

Well, I got a little further the second time around, but still no cookie

I went to this page:

http://download.pocketinformant.com/VoiceMinder/CAB/

And downloaded and installed the "VoiceMinder_WM2003_sp.cab" file (because my MPX-220 is a 2003SE Smartphone).

Then I am presented with this screen:

http://216.117.163.30/voiceminder.gif

And as you can see, it has no "Accept" or "OK" buttons. So, the first time I ran the CAB I thought that maybe I have to scroll down to read the entire agreement before the buttons become visible. But, by doing that it seems I put the installer in an infinite loop which starts ignoring any more keystrokes.

However, running the CAB file a second time, and only pressing the center "OK" button on the phone when I get to the above screen, allows me to continue with the install and it seems to install OK.

But, then I get this screen when I try to run either the setup or record shortcuts:

http://216.117.163.30/vm-notvalid.gif

I just can't win :(

I guess they didn't have many Smartphone 2003SE beta users :?

(p.s. I even tried the desktop installer and selected "Smartphone (no touch-screen)" and got the same results.)

Ouch! You're not having any luck. It looks to me like the CAB file for SP 2003 might be wrong. It might be a PPC file. I'll see if I can reach Alex and get things straightened out.

I love it! Small, simple, and effective. Now if only I could attach the voicenote to my 'tasks' I'd be in heaven.

Mike, I was wondering if you heard anything back from Alex?

So I figured, even though it *is* my birthday (30th) today and a Saturday, I'm going to see if I can find what the issue with SP 2003 is. Sorry, but this whole week has been "business maintenance" week where I've been completely involved with paperwork and so on.

I think I found it. The project was missing a define in the project settings and the #defines weren't working. I'm making the builds now and testing them to see if they work as best I can. Then I'll post it to my beta site and see if it works properly for SP 2003 owners.

When I post it (hopefully within the hour), the CABs will be at http://download.pocketinformant.com/FTF/VM/

So far I fixed the installer, but not the app itself. I believe its still something with the compiler, but I can't yet see what.

Hey Alex,

Happy birthday!

Even though I am eager to use VM, I don't want you to spend your day working on it for me...I easily can wait a few days

Well unfortunately its going to have to wait still...I did fix and figure out the installer and got that working properly. I had to delete the SP2003 config in VS 2005 and readd it, then it worked fine. But I'm still having an issue with the VoiceMinder.exe. It won't even show the proper icon and gives me that "not a ce app" error which is strange, but again shows its a vs 2005 config error for SP2003. I'm trying to figure out what kind of error it could be, though not having much luck so I may just pass it on to my engineers on Monday.

I don't know if this would help, but when I run 2003 OS based emulators from eVB, those older generation emulators could only run x86 code, not ARM based code that the new emulators in VS 2005 can run natively. Is there a chance your project is generating x86 based EXE's?

Good news - found the issues (I think) and in my quick tests it seems to work. I'm doing a build now and should have a CAB in about 15 minutes.

OK - its up. However since the old CAB was totally worthless anyway, I've just replaced the new one there:

Nope - VS 2005 doesn't even support that. The issue was that somehow the linker "subsystem" had TWO platforms in it - WM5 and SP2003. And it was only for the VoiceMinder.exe. The setup I just had to simply readd SP2003 and that worked. So making that one little linker change and now it seems to work fine for Sp2003 in both QVGA and standard devices in my tests.

So the CAB is up, but the EXE installer is not updated and won't be until I know for sure it works.

Hey Alex, Thanks so much for taking a look at this - especially since it's your birthday! Hope you're having a great birthday. :new-bday:

I'll download and try the WinMo2003 version on one of my C500 devices later today. I'll let you know if I find any issues. 8)

Hey Alex,

It installs and runs OK now on my MPX-220. Thanks a Bunch! :D

Just one little issue remaining, so I continued this thread on your site:
