CopyPaste does exactly what its name says in any editable field – edit box. Copy or cut the info from an edit box and paste it to another one. You can also select the necessary part of the edit box contents for copying or cutting to another editable field. CopyPaste saves your time and ink."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-20060909-VitoCopyPaste.gif" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />Vito has just released a new freeware application - CopyPaste. As you might guess, it allows you to copy and paste information on your Smartphone. This is one of those features that everyone has been asking for and can't believe that it's not a standard part of the OS. Well, you don't have to run out and buy a third party solution any longer. Vito's CopyPaste program is free for everyone to enjoy. <br /><br />A word of advice for those going to try this out. There is no installer for Vito CopyPaste. Instead, just copy the EXE to your phone (\Storage Card\Program Files\Vito\CopyPaste\VitoCopyPaste.exe) and then using your phones file explorer, create a shortcut in the Start Menu. (\Windows\Start Menu\Accessories) Then you can create a speed dial entry for it. :D

WOW! awesome. 8) Wonder if it is Q compatible?

"Copy the file VitoCopyPaste.exe to your Smartphone (e.g. to \Storage\Program Files\VITO\CopyPaste).
Attention! Do not copy it to the default star-up folder (\Storage\Windows\StartUp or \Windows\StartUp). To disable VitoCopyPaste run VitoCopyPaste.exe again."

Wonder why we are not supposed to copy this exe into the Startup folder. I don't want to associate it with a shortcut key and then launch it everytime I turn on my phone. :? I want it to run all the time.

Any other tricks I should know? I copied the .exe to the folders you mention but the program does nothing. It just sits there no matter how many times I click on it. I do I actually start the program?

I haven't tried it, but I am sure that when you launch the program, you will not see anything, it will just run in the background all the time.

But when you go to any edit box, where you are inputting text and hold down on the action key, you will get the special menu popup. ;-)

Great utility app. Now listed in my mandetory install.
MS should buy it and include it in the core OS.
Works GREAT!
What a time saver!
Two thumbs up!
WOW!

Well, this one has me beat. I'm either a total moron (quite possible) or it doesn't work on an SDA. I copied VitoCopyPaste.exe to \Storage\Program Files\VITO\CopyPaste. I then clicked on the program and attempted to edit a contact. When I click on my action button absolutely nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? It states on the website that it only works on unlocked phones - is that true? Thanks for any help.

I'm in the same boat. I followed the instructions, but when I press and hold the select button on my 8500 it does nothing.

Is this as buggy as AudioNotes?

are you in a text or number field when holding down the action button? It doesnt do anything when not in one of those fields

I haven't tried this yet but I'm not very impressed with Vito. Their support is lousy as well.

I use X-Bar for this function (cut-paste-copy) as well as the ability to task switch on the fly, close running applications, and clear memory all in one small-memory footprint, easy to access package.

If you don't have this, really, really, you should get it. This is my only absolutely essential tool on my Smartphone that I've used since the beginning of 'smartphone time.' I tried the free version of Vito to compare but was not impressed. You get what you pay for.

Alright, enough of an advertisement...Here is the link to the developer's site:

I liked X-bar too but it has had memory leak problems. Both my 2125 and Q would lock up after about a day when it was installed. It's a shame too.

Were you using v3.1? I had major problems with the previous version 2.x but no problems on my SDA flashed with the SP5m ROM.

Yes 3.1 in both cases. It was like clockwork, after 24 hours it would happen unless I had reset the phones myself for some other reason, like a backup.

Curious exactly which ROM are you using, and how do you like it.

Do you know of any software that'll "auto reboot" your phone once per day? Perhaps 3AM-ish?

Thanks...

Yeah, Alerts!, but I hardly think that's the solution to poor programming. You shouldn't have to reboot your phone on a regular basis.

AutoFlight software can do "auto reboot" at predefined time every day. The download site is http://inputshow.googlepages.com/. There is also a software named NineWayKeypad which can do paste/copy.

Damn. I couldn't get this to work either (on my TMo Dash).

Is this the only option for cut-and-paste?

Are you talking about XBar 3?

I also have a Dash. Couldn't get the Vito product to work. Would like to try XBar3, but since there's no trial version, want to see if anyone is running it on a Dash (or other landscape-screen smartphone like the Q) before purchasing it. Really want the Cut-and-Paste functionality.

I don't think it's being supported. I checked the web site not long ago and it looks like it hasn't been updated in a while. I had xBar 3.2 on my SDA and I believe I was seeing memory leak problems as well. Ick. Bad purchase IMO. Especially with such a sketchy developer web site.

In the middle of the December a new (1.3) version of the Vito CopyPaste will released.

Now the prerelease version is accessible for all comers:
http://www.Valiullin.info/program/VitoCopyPaste_prerelease.zip

I need your opinions of it, especially:
- Work on locked (signed) smartphones;
- Work on smartphones with Windows Mobile 2002;
- any errors.

And new localizations are always welcome!

I've gotten this to work on my dash by placing the .exe file in a program fils/vito folder. pretty handy app. i can get the 'copy all', 'cut all', and 'paste' features to work. BUT, the 'selection mode' feature screws up. once i think i' ve selected the text i want, which i have no confirmation of, i can't get the option to then paste that selection. Many of the keys on my dash then become remapped or completely useless for some reason. A hard re-boot (i.e., pulling the battery) solves the problem

So, for the moment i don't use the 'selection mode' feature. does anybody else know about this problem?

Do you try to launch CopyPaste menu again after select some text?
And is 'Selection mode' sign exist after using selection mode?

May you send me ([email protected]) letter with more advanced problem reference? and I'll help you for resolve it.
