So after only a week of having my 2125 and loving it, i had it stolen  Having to buy a new phone, this time i went with the SP5m. Now i know the 2125 and SP5m are essentially the same phone, with little differences, and the SP5m having the wi-fi; but what is the difference between the SP5m and the T-mo SDA? I looked and it seems they are the same phone? I am not sure, and even the item description was "T-Mobile SDA / imate SP5m". I know one has a hump, but is that all? Im hoping there isnt a huge difference other than the hump, and that i wasn't ripped off.

ps. which device has the best screen resolution? the 2125 or i-mate?

Aside from the hump, and the branding, the SDA and the SP5m are the same device.

The i-mate and the 2125 have identical screen resolution. The 2125 is nearly the same hardware as the SDA/SP5m, but without WiFi.

Ya, and the 2125 is a lot uglier than the SP5, IMHO. I can't see paying double (on ebay) just for wifi, but I would pay more for the way the SP5 looks compared to the 2125.

SDA\SP5m....
What's this hump you refer to?
On phonescoop if you look up one and it's listed as the same phone....
HTC Tornado / SP5m / SDA

I thought they were identical, T-Mo just brands one as the SDA for marketing purposes....am I wrong?
Also, I call the 2125 the same, just different looks and a lack of wifi.. am I missing something, if so, where can I read about it?

They are the same phone just that T-Mo and Cingular have added a hump at the top to improve reception in North America. The SP5m doesn't have the hump. Also, T-Mo's European version of the SDA doesn't have a hump either. Confusing, eh? ;)

No confusion, the other devices simply lack the hump. In other words they lack character!

Alright, so to be more correct yet still be as far from carrier branding as possible, I would say my Tornado then?

- I thorouhly believe that it is unreasonable to call my phone the SDA due to the ordeal it has been through to loose that identity. To use that title would be demeaning and unreasonable. However, my phone does seem to have a bit of an identity crisis. -

Yes, Tornado would be the most accurate. However, to be techincal, the SP5m is known as the Tornado Tempo. ;)

Check out the device matrix over at Geekzone. It's a great tool, especially when it comes to device names and branding issues.
