I'm glad phones are starting to move away from the boring dark colors into something a little more fun. Can't wait for someone to make a nice hunter green WM5 Smartphone ;)

Can't we just stop with the pink phones?

I agree, I don't need pink, but I would like to see other colours like green, blue, red, etc...

i can understand the pink. a lot of girls/woman prefer the pink over other colors but what about us guys? im telling you, a nice hunter green phone would be fantastic or a nice fire engine red smartphone, you know you love it :P

Just FYI, I've checked around a bit in Bangkok, and have been told that the StrTrk, in the form of the Dopod S300, will be available on June 30th for 17,900 baht (about $460 USD).

The reviews have all given it decent, but not "great" marks, but as long as it feels good in the hand, and the build-quality is okay, I'm planning to get one (although it will have to wait until I get back from Australia in early July).

I'm sure the Dopod model is identical to the Qtek and i-mate versions, but if there seems anything different, aside from the power-adapter-plug, I'll post it up.

I have the Dopod s300, bought it from an importer here in the Philadelphia area. Excelent device...all of my other MS PPC and Smarphones and my Treo have been sitting idle since its arival. Not that I have not pulled them out to try and use...but they have gone back away in a short period of time.

If you get the Dopod, everything in the box is in Chinese, however I was able to find the english manual on the QTek site...didnt really need it but is always nice to have.

As for the colors, while I chose the Black one...I suspect that there will be some chinese cover sets showing up in many colors and paterns once the phone is launched from everyone...only a matter of time I suppose and we'll all be able to get covers in hunter green... or Hello Kitty :D

Looks like I was two months too early in Bangkok. Oh well I had loads of fun. It was great meeting ya to Kirk. If you're ever in NYC drop me a line. Also I'm trying to sort my way back to Bangkok for work sometime in late 2k7.

Oh, you didn't hear this yet, but I ended my trip with a broken bone in my heel and a nasty hang over. The later was expected, but it was a nice treat to hobble around Bangkok on the back of a motorbike with a broken foot and no cast....

Hey, what's up? Yah, it was definitely cool meeting up. I know I have an email from you buried in my avalanche somewhere that I keep meaning to go dig out.

What happened to your foot? Yikes - get to a hospital next time. And definitely try to get back to Asia - just a cool damn place to be.

Oh - jchybinski - the Dopod you got has everything in Chinese, but all the Dopods I've looked at (granted, not the same model) for the Thai market have the instructions in Thai and English, or sometimes (for the 818) just in Thai. I'm guessing that's part of the reason for the 2-3 week lag-time to get to Bangkok, is the need to print the Thai-language users-guides, etc.

I'm actually in Australia at the moment, landed this morning, and will be here thru July 6th or 7th, so hopefully I'll pick up the StrTrk when I get back.

Nskgti - just FYI -

I got the Dopod S300 today in Bangkok (finally), and it doesn't have the chinese characters on the keypad, only standard english ones (and the manual is in English only, not even in Thai).

Judging from the manual and other things, it looks like there is a single "english" version for Thailand and Indonesia. You *can* switch the input mode into Thai to send Thai sms and email (not that I'm gonna do that, of course).

Screen is really nice, and it came with 2 clear screen-protectors, one for external and one for internal, which was a nice touch (they went on much more smoothly and easily then the ones I remember from iPaq days).
