The comments I heard were so good, that I had to check them out. The high-end, custom Ultimate Ear products are used by an impressive list of the top musicians and engineers in the music industry. There accessory kit alone, which comes with the headphones, goes to show you how serious the company takes sound. Even if you don't buy a pair this is still a good review to read :D

I would love to get a good set of earphones (or headphones) but $249.99 is a lot.

Tell you what, I will come over and do your dishes if you get me a set of these earphones

I would love to know how many pairs they can sell at that price. Really, $250 is a lot of money for earphones.

My wife was sick and tired of trying $20, 30, 40, 50, $60 headphones/earpieces and finding none of them that did good noise block or noise cancellation for her work commute (Ipod Vid)

She ended up buying $179 Bang and Olufsen headphones and never looked back. She is ecstatic. If you are a real connoisseur then you should buy quality.

But try out different sets, you really can hear a phenomenal difference. Her headsets on a plane provide perfectly clear sound, even when behind the engines. Repetitive noises like trains, planes, old ladies droning on about their grandchildren are all muted. What's weird is they are not sold as noise cancelling, but they sure seem to be doing something because they do a great job in noisy environments. (they aren't earbuds either, so its not that)

That's my .02

Absolutely. If you are a connoisseur, you're going to want top quality. But does top quality really mean $200+ Especially when it comes to portable players. There are a lot more elements that you can't control with portable players that makes me wonder if you're really getting what you pay for. I've no doubt that B&O headphones are better, but are they $150 better?

Imagine my shock considering that at 100 quid, I bought my SPV C550 on Orange PAY as you go with 512mb miniSD card for much less than that

I don't know about this set. But I was thinking of shelling $$$ for the Bose noise cancelling headset or something similar, so that I can use my Smartphone while mowing the lawn. ;-)

But $250+ for a regular headset is a little extreme, I will only go upto $100.

I will only go upto $100.

If I had a need, I guess that's as high as I would go. Unless we're talking real stereo headphones. I would go a little higher for a good set of those. Maybe $175 or so.

I paid 175 for my Shure earphones. Honestly they aren't worth the price but they are more comfortable than the usual ear buds.

BTW, I'm in Kiev - and besides some kinda cool Nokia (N90 video works well but is heavy) phones there was nothing good in Amsterdam :(
