We weren't sure if you had to be invited first to get in on this. We still aren't but what the heck. Try it. The one that has our attention is "Mobile 10.7 Beta". First you need to sign up <a href="http://connect.microsoft.com/">here.</a> Select available connections and then apply for the "Mobile 10.7 Beta". You need to have a passport account set up to do this. If you try it let us know how it worked out.

Signed up. It should be interesting. I really don't use hotmail, and rarely use MSN Messenger... but what the heck, it's a beta. ;) Always like to try out new stuff on my unlimited data plan. :D

I'm in, but it doesn't look like there's anything to download yet. Here's a screenshot from the main page though. I'm not impressed, as this QVGA screenshot looks like the pixels are stretched. Do I have a bug report before even testing it? :lol:

But on the flip side, there is no download yet.

But on the other flip side, the test scenario documents presents an interesting peek into the future. I like it.

BTW, did I ever mention that I hate Pocket MSN. So I am glad that the application is getting a major facelift and a new name. :)

Once you've applied, log back in later and check the status of your applications. It will be Pending or Active. ;)

Initial thoughts, I have only installed it and I may be uninstalling it soon. And here is why:
- Before install I had 3.5MB of storage and now I only have 1.75MB or maybe less. :evil:
- Seems like the app installer doesn't prompt for install location - device/storage card. :?


More later...for now it looks like a memory hog and performance hog.

And for those who do not have access to the Beta, this is the feedback I posted. I gave it the title "Memory Hog."

"I may be a little extreme by giving this feedback the title of "Memory Hog" but the problem is that this product is aimed for a mobile device that has limited resources. Especially storage memory.
- Before I installed the application I had 3.5MB storage memory, and post install I had only 1.75MB or so.
- I didnt get the prompt to install this program to my device/storage card. It went straight to my device memory.
- When I perform the first sync, why can't I configure whether I want to sync contact and email or just one of the two.
- How come for email download, I cannot specify to download only a 1 days worth of emails or 2 days or 3 days or 50 mails.
- How come for email download, the program by default downloads the folders as well. By default ONLY the Inbox should be synced. The rest of the folders must be on demand, the user must request/enable it.

Overall the application assumes that memory is plenty. But it squeezes the storage memory which is scarse to begin with on a Smartphone."

Synchronization should let the user define timed synchronization intervals.

There is an update, got this mail from Microsoft:

"The new G2 bits are here for both Smartphone and Pocket PC ! The team has made significant changes in some core areas, and while there are no UI changes, they focused on the following :

Contacts dupe detection and merge is much improved Contacts performance is greatly improved (though dupe detection has eliminated some of the gains) PocketPC is now supported !
Motorola Q issues have largely been addressed (there were many) Let us know what you think after you've downloaded the bits and had time to play around. Does the Contacts work as you would expect it to now? For those with Moto Q phones, what are your thoughts? Pocket PC owners - let us know what you think !"

Does anyone know if they are planning to release a new update that will let us log in. They have had the "coming late next week" message up for 2 weeks now and it is painful not being able to log into messenger.
