But when? And with what changes? An informant has tipped Brighthand to a cached Google webpage with the contents of a slide presentation given during a recent Microsoft "Tech Days" event in Switzerland a few weeks ago. It seems an update, or Second Edition, to Windows Mobile 5.0 is in the works. Delivery to manufacturers is targeted for Q4, 2006 and a target Q1/Q2 2007 Marketing Launch date is mentioned. Assuming manufacturers like HTC et. al. get this WM 5.0 Second Edition in Q4 2006, a Q2 2007 marketing date seems a little aggressive."

I love the code names MS gives to its future OS's. This is a nice rundown of what is up ahead for us. I would take the dates very lightly as MS is notorious for not making any dates and when you factor in the manufacturers and then the carriers, well need I say more?

hopefully in WM5SE as well as Photon we get the ability to modify things like incoming call templates, contact image size, multiple alarms and other grips users have with features left out of the current release.

Gosh, I hope they don't call it Windows Mobile 5.0 Second Edition for the Smartphone  That's a mouthful.

We could just use WM5SE.
