...is it something about the Smartphone OS??? PocketPC and Symbian have excellent programs for missed calls emails and text messages but nothing for the smartphone....why???

Nothing wrong with the OS. It's all in the developers hands.

Yep...something like phonealarm for PPC. Something that can be configured to nag on missed messages and calls and control profile changes by TIME settings.
I believe a developer could make a lot of money from a program of that type.
Sign me up for something like this. It amazes me that this isn't included as part of the OS as I think it's part of basic mobile phone operability. Msft has dropped the ball repeatedly on this and unfortunately no developers have jumped in.
