The GlobalConnect plans provide unlimited EDGE and 3G data on Cingular's network and include 100 MB of data roaming per month. The plan is available in two different flavors, a $110 version that includes roaming in Canada and Mexico, and a $140 plan that includes access in most major countries."</i><br /><br />Even though a bit pricey it's a logical step for Cingular to make. After all they do operate on GSM which is most of the world now.

While this does make sense for Cingular, it doesn't for this Cingular user. I make annual trips to the UK and I have found buying an O2 SIM card for my unlocked old Nokia 6310 is much less expensive than any international plan. The only downside is people in the US can't call me until I call them and give them my number. But that bit is easily offset by the price differential.

That has to be for laptop users. What PDA user could possibly use 100MB a month, unless you routinely downloaded podcasts. And $140? That is insane. I've never had a GPRS roaming bill anywhere close to that.

I could use that in a month. Between email, MSN (constantly connected) and web surfing with pictures. I wouldn't use WiFi so it would get used.

I have a friend that uses 400mb/month. Granted some of that is on his PC, but a good deal is on the phone.
