When compared to the built-in speaker of my Smartphone or Pocket PC, there simply is no comparison. But even against a small Sony shelf system, the sound is much richer especially in the lower tones. Although it has no equalizer functionality itself, the sound is well mixed using default settings of Windows Media Player on my i-mate SP5m Smartphone. There was not hint of "tinny" sound or of over powering bass."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-20060221-MobisDock.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />While this looks really cool, I just don't see it as a practical item. If I'm at home I would prefer to listen to music on my stereo, and if I'm at work, I tend to use my laptop and possibly headphones. Perhaps that's different for some of you, but my mobile phone is only used for music while I'm mobile. ;) With all that said, I still feel this desire to buy one. Is there something wrong with me or what!

"I just don't see it as a piratical item"

Maybe if it had an eye patch and a parrot on one side?

Argh! The spell checker did that one. :( I'll fix it now...

I saw one of these for the iPod at Future Shop. I kinda laughed at first but then realized it's not a bad idea. Although, I'd just get a cable to patch the iPod into an input on the stereo rather than buying a unit for the iPod only. Same goes for a phone.

Like you said, Mike, if you're at home or work there's usually a better means of listening to tunes than from a phone.

No worries. I'm glad someone said something. I don't tend to re-read the original post very often. ;)

Vell, I vud haf to say you are sufferink from a clazzic case of "gadget acquisition ineptness".

Personally, I feel one of these "docks" would be more suited to someone that still used a boombox regularly. I would rather plug my Altec Lansings with sub into my smartphone, Treo or Pocket PC. The sound is awesome. In fact this is what I take up to the cottage when I go fishing.

i want one of these for work. for me its a little different because i work at a cell phone store (cingular) so a device like this would just help me sell more phones :)

I use a similar more portable device I bought at Brookstone with my smartphone all the time at the pool, beach, barbecues, or at friends house.

It's great!

My question is, will anything that works with the SP5/m work with the 2125 as well? Is the spacing between the audio jack and the USB plug the same on both phones?

yes, i believe it was Gears over at coolsmartphone.com that did a review of this device and he tried several devices in it. i-mates sp5(m), c500 (Audiovox SMT 5600) and a c600 (Cingular 2125) and they all fit... some were a little snug fitting but they all fit nicely :)

I would use it camping. I would blare the 1812 Overture at 0600 for the people in the tent near us that kept Kenny Chesney blaring all night.
As someone said, outdoors it might make a nice gadget ('Cept for battery consumption).

I had the same question: Is it compatible with the Cingular 2125 (c600)? You said someone else said yes, BUT there are two different versions of this dock (mentioned at the end of the review THIS thread is about). Which of the two docks is compatible with the Cingular 2125? Thanks!!!
