Motorola's reason for being at the event was obviously the new Q, the subject of this gallery. I have to apologize for the image quality of these photos since they were shot in very poor lighting in my hotel room."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-20051213-MotoQ.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />I was with Michael Oryl last week at the Mobius conference and I snapped a number of pictures of the Q as well. However, I will leave you with his coverage since the pictures are far superior to anything I was able to take. ;) I was really impressed with the Q. It has a jog wheel on the side along with a action button, the keyboard is spaced well, the device is extremely light weight and slim. I'm looking forward to putting my hands on one of these (in GSM format).

Not my style. Motorola ship a Razor with WM 5 and I will be among the first to buy it. I like flip-phones not Treo like ones.

Just a guess, but I think we'll be lucky. If the CDMA is shipping with EVDO, then it only makes sense to ship the GSM with EDGE support. :D

EDGE is so slow compared to EVDO :(

cingular needs to start releasing 3G (UMTS) phones since they already launched the 3G network in like 17 major cities or something crazy like that

Mike, didn't I read that Cingular dropped the Q a few months ago because of a chipset issue regarding EDGE?

Rumors. Nothing is known for sure - other than CDMA with EVDO in Q1 of '06.

Not trying to be argumentative but I thought I was losing my mind:

I kind of, sort of like the design of the Q and hope Cingular does release the phone.

No worries.

I don't consider that an official announcement from either party. It's just a "source". Could be true, may not be. I talked with a Moto rep at the Mobius conference, and he confirmed CDMA with EVDO in Q1 '06. When asked about GSM and other carriers, I got nothing more than a really big grin and "I can't comment". When pushed on this, he said that obviously they are working to make this device a success. Ultimately they are looking to make it the RAZR of the Smartphone world and have it offered by many different carriers. Make what you will out of that, but it doesn't sound like they're ignoring the GSM market.

Any idea what the RAM/ROM specs on the Q are?

You know, I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't check.
