It was running WM 5.0 and had a 320x240 screen... wifi, BT 1.2 i believe, 1.3 MP cam, dont know about internal memory, but he did have a 1gb minisd card under the battery. and model # xb4500 (do NOT quote me on the first 2 letters, i was adrinkin... but positive on the 4500). It was much thicker than my E398, yet seemed to be contoured (sp?) around the back. around the front edge was a chrome lining, a very nice touch. It appears to be the same as the i-mate SP5 but rebranded as HP. It sure would be nice to see some of the Pocket PC companies try their hands at a Smartphone. Let's hope this becomes more than just a prototype. :) Check out the post on Howard Forums for another picture. Unfortunately, it's just as blury - dang those low cost/quality camera phones. ;)

Update: There are now some new crisp/clear pictures over at Howard Forums, for your enjoyment. Just follow the links above to view the new pictures.

This is clearly another HTC smartphone. Curious, just how much a company like HP have to do to actually make an HP branded HTC phone? Is it as simple as providing HTC with some funky design adjustments and set up some support forum on a website?

Maybe HTC can start branding these phones with your company logo on it...

I am surprised that this Smartphone prototype had the T-Mobile logo on the back. :? This Smartphone has the same spec as the T-Mobile SDA. What is the difference.

Pretty cool. I love the black keypad. And the buttons looks wider because it extends all the way to the sides of the phone.

Hrm... In those pictures it doesn't really look 100% like the SP5.

They look pretty different to me. :? I wonder if it's the same phone with a slight shell change.

I'm sure there is a fair amount of work involved. Even if you leave the hardware unchanged, chances are you're still going to tweak the ROM, add some programs, add some homescreen customizations, etc..

I'm sure it's not as hard as building your own, but I'm sure it's not as easy as picking the latest and greatest phone and stamping your name on it. ;)

i cant see the light sensor....

anyway its a htc device for sure, the battery is identical, the battery compartment layout is typical, the connectors.........even certain design cues are the same....

You are right.
- It seems like HP is using the keypad layout of the SP5.
- And the oval/curved body shell is similar to the 2125 (without hump;-)) or the SMT5600, C600.

im not sure how i feel aobut this phone, i have to play with it first. i was starting to like the idea of having the smartphones branded to the carriers (cingular 2125, tmobile sda, etc). i honestly believe they will sell better than something with LG or Samsung or HP stamped on it.
