Speaking to The Register at the formal opening of the company's European operation, HTC President Peter Chou confirmed speculation that HSDPA support is indeed on the manufacturer's device roadmap. When pushed for a timeframe, Chou told us: "The second half of next year." He also revealed that integrated GPS location-sensing technology is on the company's roadmap."

HTC now has a European division to facilitate closer ties with the local carriers. HTC has been doing pretty well in Europe, I believe all the carriers carry their products. 8) Also, it looks like the carriers and HTC have pretty good understanding and they are in-sync with each other. The confirmation of the 3G products that will be ready around the same time the European networks will be launching their HSPDA based 3G networks, emphasizes that bond. Wish the US carriers are more receptive to HTC. :-(

In the UK there's 5 main network operators - Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile, O2 and 3.

Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile and O2 all carry Pocket PC smartphones. Orange and T-Mobile also carry Smartphones too. 3 don't offer anything in the way of MS smartphones, but that's probably down to the fact that they're a 3G-only operator and the only MS 3G phone so far is the HTC Universal.

Not bad going for such a small company, really. :)
