I'm considering moving from a Pocket PC Phone Edition to a Smartphone, but have a few questions (to be posted in multiple threads).

My first question concerns multiple simultaneous BT connections. By this, I mean being connected to,say, a headset and a GPS receiver at the same time. Is this possible?

Most "normal" mobile phones do not allow this, so I decided to check it out before I am disappointed, as this is a MUST for me!

i dont know about GPS but before i broke my freedom bluetooth keyboard i would often take notes with it in PocketNotepad while talking on my bluetooth headset. when it did work it noticably slowed my phone down as far as preformance goes but i love multitasking ;)

Yes, it's possible. I've had headset, GPS and ActiveSync all connected by BT simultaneously.

Most 'normal phones don't have a need to allow this. Without mapping software there is no need for a serial profile. Without a keyboard designed for it, there's no need for an HID profile.

The reality is that the BT hardware would certainly allow for it, it is that the OEMs didn't see the need to include the various profiles required. Their vision ended at headset/handsfree.
