We received a copy of a Cingular rebate form that offers between $50 and $100 rebate on your new 8100/2125 Smartphone! The rebate is a limited time offer that runs between November 6th and December 24th of 2005 and is only good with activation of a data plan. Of course, there's only one small problem - these phones are not yet available! Hopefully, we can assume that this means we'll be seeing some new models on Cingular's shelfs soon. :DClick the image to view the entire rebate form. (247KB)Sorry, but the copy we received is not the best possible quality. :( We'll see if we can get our hands on a better copy for everyone to drool over! It looks like it will be a merry holiday season at Cingular after all. ;)

While this phone won't be of any value to me and I will be leaving Cingular at the end of my contract I don't see the rebate always indicating the phones will arrive. Case in point, HP hw6515 which Cingular had a rebate form on but failed to deliver on time or within the rebate form window. Not sure how that worked out.

In a few months my 6515 will be up for sale.

If you go to Cingular's web site and search for "rebates" you will get links to .pdf files for the rebates. There are a couple there with different date ranges. I just got one for the 6515 I bought and sent it in. :D

The HTC devices are just around the corner... I still don't have an exact date, but I am 99.9% sure they will be here in the next 2-3 weeks.

Well I hope this is good news. I just purchased my SMT5600 a few hours ago and signed up with Cingular. I'm tired of waiting, and hopefully the new WM5 phone will be out within 30 days, so I can return my 5600 under the 30-day return policy. :)

Yep I figured. And I'm hoping, as many are, that the 2125 is available before Christmas, so I can exchange my phone. Otherwise I'll be living with my 5600 for awhile and getting a WM5 phone on ebay sometime.

On another note, my SMT5600 hasn't been working great since I got it this afternoon. I've already been back to the Cingular store (because they wouldn't answer their phones... ), and I definitely need the phone replaced. Unfortunately, the store is out of SMT5600s, so I'll have to wait till they get a new one. Problem is I'm leaving to go back to college tomorrow afternoon...so they're calling us tomorrow morning to let is know if another store can get a replacement to them, or we can stop by another Columbus store before I leave. Short description of the problem: the device becomes "slow" even "freezing" when I hit any key, and the display sometimes fades to white/white lines and I have to wait 30-60 seconds for it to respond. Obviously a big problem, and although the phone is usable as a phone, the slow response makes doing much more than that very difficult. I'm still a fan of Smartphones, but this wasn't the introduction to them, or Cingular, that I was hoping for.

Eek! That's a horrible way to get started. :( Have you installed any third party applications? Also, you might want to add the Task Manager to your speed dial. Then you can try and pull it up to kill any applications that might be running when this problem occurs.

Nope, haven't installed any third party apps. I even had a few of these problems while I was still playing with the phone in the store this afternoon...I should have asked about it then, but I didn't think much of it. I've also tried killing tasks with task manager, and it doesn't help. :( I hope I'll get a replacement tomorrow...if not, I'll live with it for two weeks.

my phone did this the second day i had it, i just did a hard reset and that did a complete fresh install and everything worked a'ok.

if you bought the phone at an actual cingular owned store you should be able to return it when you get to college as long as you keep the reciept and the box and all that jive.

im not sure how to do a hard reset off the top of my head but i know there is a option i think in the settings menu that will do it for you so you dont have to do it manually... if you can actually get to the settings menu... if not im sure you cna find the instructions here or with my best friend in the WHOLE world, Google 8)

To completely reset the SMT5600. Start Menu -> Accessories -> Clear Storage.

Note: It will wipe all your settings and data. So make sure you have the copy of all the Outlook data like contacts and calendar etc.

My contract ends this summer with Cingular. The only good thing is that their coverage is the best in my area (yes even better than Verizon) and when travelling. I came from T-Mobile. Frankly, I'm really missing their inexpensive price plans and data plans.

Anyway, if you click on the rebate link next to any phone that's on the Cingular website offering a rebate then a PDF of that form will come up like the other post said. If you look at it, there's tons of phones listed as having a rebate that aren't in the store. I went to my local Cingular store complaining about that and all they said that those other model phones are coming. That was 3 weeks ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Cingular wonders why they have a high churn rate!!

I just don't like the hyped or leaked discount promos (not because their leaked) but because they get our hopes up then the phone doesn't arrive (hw6515) or arrive on time then the flyer is null, then they have to create a new one etc. Blah, blah, blah.

At any rate I will be posting my hw6515 package up shortly as I prepare for the move back to Verizon, GSM was short lived and sort of fun while it lasted. The Treo 700w may or may not be perfect but Verizon in my area is ALOT better than Cingular so its the network not the price for me.

there are a couple phones on the rebate forms that you will not be able to find in the stores yet. sometimes phones get released in only select markets (i.e. - the firefly, new 3G data cards, etc.), other times its just based off what sells from what store. i do all the ordering for my store andas much as i love smartphones and pdas we NEVER have them in stock. maybe once in a blue moon. reason being is because its hard to sell a pda or smartphone. in most cases they end up sitting on the shelf for months on end and from a business standpoint its just not very cost effective and hurts my budget so we just order what we know will sell.

if a customer wants a phone that isnt in the store but is on the website i can usually order it and have it shipped over in a couple days or search the other store inventories in my area and just run over and take one

5 minutes is better than no minutes ;).

i was thinking about your problem and i couldnt thionk of any other suggestions what so ever for you :(

the only thing i could think of was reflashing the phone but i dont think you can get the ROM from Cingular or Audiovox. do you know anyone else with an 5600? if so I would try putting their battery in your phone and see if that helps. i know it sounds dumb but sometimes when a customer has a bad battery or when they are charging their phone the 5600 tends to run a little slow and sometimes VERY sluggish. this could be the case here but its a long shot.

sorry i couldnt be more help!

Well, here's the upodate: I got a new SMT5600 and it's working great. :D The Cingular store called around this morning and found another Columbus-area store that had one (just one) in stock, so I stopped there on my way back to college. So far so good. I even tried to post to this thread from the road (no, I wasn't driving ;)), but I wasn't able to hit either the "Preview" or "Submit" buttons. :? Just getting ready to sync it now, and then hopefully play around with some Bluetooth stuff. :)

Thanks for everyone's help!

awesome! im happy they pulled through for you :)

if you have any cingular related questions that you need answering you can always shoot them my way. in the meantime enjoy your new phone, its the best phone i ever had!

a little tip though, since you said you were going back to college did you know you can use your phone as a voice recorder? just hold the up volume key for a couple seconds and the voice notes screen will pop up. i find it VERY useful in meetings when i just want to drift off and take a nap and catch up on everything later on my own time :)
