Wow, 18MB/s 8O This speed is faster than the Toshiba (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=61416) one we posted a day or two ago.

And this is available now. As opposed to the Toshiba one which will go into production next year.

True, but why? You can have a 2GB MiniSD or a 3GB HD that sucks battery power like mad. Plus, you could fit a couple miniSD cards in the space of 1 3GB HD. Just seems crazy to me. I'll take Flash memory. ;)

We need hard drives in phones why again?

Currently to be able to afford the phone that can store the massive amount of data and media we are told we need to have ;) How else are we going to carry the Lord Of the Rings trilogy around on our phones?

When this card becomes available in the US at a reasonable price, I'll buy one.

Why?--for music. I have three different dedicated MP3 players, one of which holds 20GB, but I find it much more convenient to use my SMT5600 to listen to music with. Why?--because I have it with me all the time anyhow, don't need to carry the separate device.

I currently have the 1 GB SD card, but if I can double the capacity to hold much more music, sounds good to me.

I don't think the small smartphone screen is good for videos, BTW. I've tried it a couple of times. I also have a PPC (IPAQ 2210), and I do find its 320x240 screen OK for watching video. But the tinier screen of the smartphone is just too small for videos, for me at least.

Touche  But I want my entire DVD library with me all the time.

Have you ever noticed the folks who are up in arms about the record companies forcing them to buy an entire CD for only one or two songs, are the same ones who have to have a 40G MP3 player so they can carry around every song on every CD they had to buy?

i already tried a 2GB miniSD with my typhoon (a friend of mine had it for his PDA, i coaxed him to swap with my 2GB SD + a card reader but he didnt want it... huhuhu  )

anyway, im gonna be getting a 2GB miniSD of my own soon (on payday ^_^)... dirt cheap... how much? if you could believe it... for around $100. mwahahaha... only 80x but i dont really care. our smartphones cant read/write beyond 60x yet (unless im wrong...) so... ^_^

besides, ive tried a 45x miniSD and it wasnt too bad. a slight delay when taking pictures, a little cough up when you start playin mp3s but really no biggie... ^_^
