Why is my Voicmail number in a different AREA CODE?

I have Cingular. My phone is setup on a 310 area code,
But when I check my voicemail, it dials to a 619 area code?

I think those are just central numbers for voice mail retrieval. I have Cingular too. Different area codes as well 818 vs 213 for VM.

You can always just dial your own cell number then hit * to get the "enter password" prompt.
