The app offers "several features that are mobile-phone specific, like a click-to-call capability. It also provides small interactive maps that let users zoom in or out of a specific location, as well as satellite imagery that can provide a bird's eye view of a site."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Jerry-Google.gif" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />I was playing with the desktop version of this and it does have a lot of features. It was just a bit big and obnoxious looking though. Now it is good to see Google paying more attention to the mobile world. As I was posting this John Cody sent us this <a href="http://google.com/glm/tour.html">link</a> that shows the features of this new service.

It does load and work fine on my MPX-220, probably because it has a java VM in it :)

It works on my SMT-5600 but you can't get the satellite images :( I played with it a bit yesterday when I was in San Francisco. Pretty neat. Only thing holding me back was my typing ability on the dial pad and Cingular's GPRS service. Can definitely see using it with a keyboard-enabled device and/or a higher speed network.

Can someone tell me how to add Google Local to my favorites?
When I'm on it, I don't see an option to add it.

you need to download the Java app from here:

Does this answer your question?

Yes, I installed from that site, and have tested it.
It works fine, but when I exit my mobile browser and try to find it again, I cannot.

I need to run the app again and reinstall it.
After installation, it shows the (1. Google Local) menu.

I'd like to set it up where I can select it from my favorites or somewhere

On my SMT-5600, I have to go to accessories, then Java and then run Google Local. There probably is some app that will allow you to make it a favorite, but right now it escapes me.

Cool thanks lagsun
Hopefully, there will be a way to get to it easier!

The app runs on my SMT-5600 on T-Mobile but it can't connect over GPRS. Pass through is fine though. I have the T-Mobile $10/month dataplan.

Strange that it won't show satellite images.

I was unable to run the applet on my SMT5600 until I removed the segoe font that I had installed and went back to the default. After that the applet ran without any problems. Just thought I'd add that as a troubleshooting step in case anyone else was having trouble running it.
