I am intrigued by the iPod like thumb pad it has for navigating the menus. The idea of a 3gb hard drive is also quite appealing. I would be using it for applications and data more than music though. What about you?

I really liked the concept of this phone when rumor of it began some time ago; lots of storage, plug-n-play to access files, the ipod-esque navigation wheel and even how it looks, however. Personally I would just be too afraid of a HD in a phone. Look at the new ipod Nano, up to 4 GB solid state memory. I think that is the way things should go.

I still like the phone and will check out the vids when I get home from work, I am curious about the wheel. I am glad Samsung got this thing to production and I hope they do well with it, it is always good when someone brings out something new. I am patiently waiting for the HTC 8310 / i-Mate SP5 and 1GB card, yes please.

The big question is.... WM2003 or WM5.0?

I think the Mobile 5 question has been answered in the affirmative by Mobile Review.

I too have been weighing this device against the Qtek/i-mate, and in turn Wi-fi vs. 3GB HD. But I think for me at least, it will come down to whichever one comes out first. (and I hope Expansys isn't stringing me along with the 2 days designation on the i-mate).

Interesting that Samsung went with the 2" screen and not 2.2", we know they are out there and you can even tell in some comparison shots that the 300's screen is slightly smaller than the Typhoon (same as Tornado I think). I know it's a fraction of inches here but when the screen is this small, I think it would be noticeable.

At TechEd, a prototype was running WM 5.0. Later I read that Samsung was going to go ahead with WM2003 SE to get it out faster.

Personally, the 3GB hard drive is a waste. The current 1GB MiniSd is plenty with 2GB ones on the way soon. Mobile Review says the battery life on this thing with the hard drive is very bad.

Samsung has had some good devices like the i730 on Verizon, but the 3GB drive is not really a big deal here and it will especially be a bust if they only sell it with WM 2003 SE.

I will be looking at the HTC Tornado instead and I would be surprised if any USA based carrier picks it up.

Good points. If this thing shows up with WM2003 it is DOA.

How usefull is that scroll wheel going to be when playing games? I can't imagine it being useful unless you are playing driving games and can use it as a steering wheel :)

My next phone is going to be either the Treo 700w or some phone I saw somewhere (I think here) which had Windows Mobile 2005 (not smartphone 2005), plus a touch screen, etc, for about the same size as an an Audiovox SMT5600. That's going to be a cool phone.

Unless they plan to release an upgrade.... Cha, right! Like we would ever see an upgrade being released.
