Dell collaborated with Verizon Wireless to test and validate the V620 on Inspiron and Latitude notebooks. ...In a similar move, HP also announced plans to bring mobile broadband connectivity to upcoming HP mobile business devices. HP expects to make this technology available to customers through a PC Card solution this fall, similar to the one Dell is offering now."</i><br /><br />Dell, HP, and <a href="http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=5221">IBM (Lenovo)</a> have all announced laptops with built-in EV-DO. I find this to be a very interesting approach, and I wonder what kind of impact this will have on GSM. If you can buy a laptop with built-in EV-DO, then chances are you're going to get a cellphone from the same carrier. :?

I've noticed that Sony is offering built-in wireless Edge from Cingular in some of their notebooks. Would imagine that others will go with Cingular as well. Ultimately all the notebook manufacturers will probably offer a choice.

Ah, I hadn't seen that. In that case, I would agree. It would be nice to pick the wireless option you want when you buy the laptop (or phone for that matter) ;)
