putting contacts on sd card

Is it possible to move the contacts to the mini sd card, to free up memory in the phone, and will the phone read the contacts if it is on the sd card?

I don't know if this is possible, but I don't think it's something you would really want to do. Flash memory is considerably slower than NAND. You will notice a difference when trying to search for a contact. Also, during an incoming call, your phone will search the contacts to find a match and show the image and/or name. With the contacts on your flash card, this will really slow things down.
