I've taken a while to do it mainly because I was waiting for it to be fully available. Since May 19th the TomTom Mobile 5 kit has only been available directly from the TomTom.com website with other online retailers and shops stating "not yet available" or "pre-order now". Well, I waited.. and waited.. and waited... To make matters worse, TomTom put a message on their site saying, "Please allow a minimum of 5 weeks for delivery", which turned people away in droves."</i><br /><br />For all you TomTom fans here is a review of the latest incarnation. How many of you here actually do use this? Currently I use either Pocket Streets or Mapopolis. Is TomTom better or just different? Curious minds what to know!

I decided to get it and got it pretty early, though I am using it on a Siemens SX66. Bottom line: it is awesome. Works well in the car, stick the TomTom in your pocket and carry it as you walk; you'll rarely get lost. I convinced a colleague of mine to buy one. He used it in Seattle/Vancouver on vacation using an XV-6600. Worked flawlessly and got him out of several jams.

I've only used in-car systems in rental cars, so my frame of reference is limited. However, as an extensive user of mobile technologies, I think this is the most useful tool a travelling professional could have, other than mobile email.
