View Full Version : My World Goes Dark Without GPRS

For the past 26 hours or so, I haven't had GPRS access on my phone, and I'm surprised at how much it's affecting me. After waiting on hold for 47 minutes with Fido (http://www.fido.ca), I spoke to a woman who told me GPRS was "out" and they were "working on it". 8O She couldn't tell me any more, so I dutifully hung up and now I'm still waiting for it to work. Ever since moving to a hosted Exchange (http://www.4smartphone.net/affiliates.aspx?go=referal&ref=JD10726) solution, I haven't synchronized my phone with my desktop. I rountinely punch appointments into Outlook and know that within a few minutes it will all be put on my phone - until today. The disconnect between my devices is surprisingly troublesome and frustrating - I suddenly feel like I can't have a productive day. As slow as GPRS is, having a Smartphone without it suddenly makes it much less useful to me. :?

Must be something in your neck of the woods. It works fine out here. I haven't had any outages in a while. And when they do crop up, it's usually only for a couple hours - max.

Jason,

Why don't you connect and sync with exchange server with your desktop pass through connection. I do it all the time, even though it is not real time, atleast you get the satisfaction of seeing the mails and calendar events syncronized. It then feels like some thing better than what you are feeling now.

Yeah, I ended up doing it after I dug up the right cable - it's been so long since I've had to do that. But at least now I'm up to date...until I make another change. Fido GPRS is STILL out. <sigh>
