upgrading to Windows Mobile v5

I was just curious, if I do get a PDA phone now running Win Mobile v3 (iMate phone) is it possible to upgrade the OS or you are betting on the carrier to provide you with an upgrade?

I current have t-mobile and still holding out on these phone as I'd like to see WM5 get off to market place and get the MDA-4

Typically it's the carrier that has to supply the update. As of right now, it doesn't look like any carriers or Smartphone manufacturers are going to release an update. So in short, don't plan on being able to upgrade your phone. :(

I kinda like getting fresh hardware anyway when a new os comes out :)
