Google Zeros In On Mobile Web

I don't think this is up and running for the world yet. I just went to Google on my phone and saw no sign of it. How many things does Google have in a permanent state of beta now? :lol:

I agree, this is a great idea, and it's something we should have seen a while ago.

Google = Beta ;) at least for anything out site of their regular search functionality.

Just went to http://www.google.com/xhtml and got the added Mobile Web (Beta) under the usual Web, Images, and Local options

Yep, I like it. I wonder how much better it will be in 10 years when Google takes it out of beta. :lol:

After doing some digging, it looks like all Google is doing is checking that the site uses xhtml and therefore has the potential to support mobile devices. So they are totally missing any site that might sniff the browser and then build the page appropriately. :(
