Although that news is unfortunate, it's not what caught my eyes.<br /><br /><i>"In the meantime, two other devices will likely launch before then: the hp6325 and an HP Smartphone (MS-based). The hp6325 will be similar to the hp6315 except it will be manufactured for Cingular users."</i><br /><br />HP Smartphone? HP has a lot of experience in the Windows Mobile market. If they put that effort into a true Smartphone, we could be looking at a killer device here. This is very exciting news. :D

I wouldn't get too excited yet. HP has a way of screwing things up just like Motorola does. They can make something look great on paper and then mess it all up in the implementation.

And remember, some of the best iPaq's (IMO) - the 19xx and 4xxx series were actually made by HTC.

Luckily we already know HTC makes great SmartPhones too! :)

I am guessing by Smartphone they mean smart phone or the Pocket PC Phone Edition devices. :?

Nope. It's my understanding that this is a Smartphone (Windows Mobile Smartphone), and not just another smartphone (Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition) device.

Smartphone is where its at. HP could do a nice job - last mobile device I bought from them was my old Jornada 545 back in the day.

But the new Samsung looks unbeatable.

"could" is the operative word here. HP has gone soft in the quality department over the last 20 years in my experience with them. Frankly I think they should stick with printers and forget the rest. The HP that would have made an incredible Smartphone is long gone I'm afraid.
