I have one suggestion for the folks who are not familiar with xBar application - <i>give it a try.</i> :-) What is xBar? xBar is a utility that enables you to easily switch between applications. Smartphone can run multiple applications and the only way to switch between applications is to use the <i>Back</i> button or use the <i>Start</i> menu. With xBar, its as simple as holding down on the joystick or joypad, and an application switcher pops up. It even lets you terminate applications that are not needed and see the memory utilization and battery levels. And the feature I like the most, copy and paste.<br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Kris-May2005-xbar.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />The new version claims to have a tiny file explorer. I haven't been able to figure out how to launch it. I wish the <a href="http://xetranet.free.fr/xbar2/?lang=eng&amp;project=xBar%202&amp;page=Manual">documentation</a> was more up to date for this otherwise awesome application.

And the feature I like the most, copy and paste.

If you're interested in the app for the copy and paste functionality and you have an i600, don't bother as it doesn't work and the developer is doing nothing despite their statement that they are working on it.

I like the task switching, but I bought it for the copy and paste and have been disappointed ever since.

Is there a way to copy and paste selected text, like maybe just a line or two of an e-mail, or do you have to do "Select All" and copy the entire text? Thanks.

AFAIK you *can* select specific bits of text using the Shift function, but I've yet to work it out.

Last time I upgraded xBar I had all sorts of problems, so I'm hanging on a few weeks to see if there are any issues this time. It is a great app though, and without doubt my most used utility

Found this on Modaco:

in fact the correct method is :
when highlight text, just press xbar key once to copy text.
and you can after, select paste to paste text.

Actually, you can download a macro from HERE (http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=116396&amp;view=findpost&amp;p=535625) that automatically turns shift off and copies the selection to the clipboard.

Unzip the file and copy it to /Storage/Program Files/xBar2/Start
To use it open xBar and press "Up" and you should have a new option!

That makes life much easier!

One last thing... you can only select text that is in a textbox (or similar, like fields in Contacts etc), so AFAIK you can't select text from an email and copy it.

Unless you create a reply to the message and then copy the text. (I'm just guessing, as I don't actually use xbar. ;) )

The new version claims to have a tiny file explorer. I haven't been able to figure out how to launch it. I wish the documentation (http://xetranet.free.fr/xbar2/?lang=eng&amp;project=xBar%202&amp;page=Manual) was more up to date for this otherwise awesome application.

What the author meant was you can now put folders in your xBar start folder and browse into the folders. He told me he would also make the "start" folder configurable. You should be able to use your same windows start menu or even your root folder as xbar's base shortcut folder.

I downloaded the CAB, copied it over the phone. Launched it. Installed fine.

What kind of error or problem are you running into?

Looks like they messed up the download link for 2.6. It should be:

http://xetranet.free.fr/xbar2/download/xbar26.cab

Enjoy

Well after using Batt Pro for a while I finally dumped it and went back to xBar. BP is a bit bloated and hogged too much memory. This is a much leaner application and does a good job.
