This means that avatars take the place of players, and action is transformed, play by play, into a cartoon like environment. This includes the roar of the crowd, the scoreboard, the pitch, the strike, and the trajectory of the ball. This isn't a game, but a cartoon version of a live game, produced by Craftmax's Digital Stadium and broadcast to DoCoMo 3G mobiles."</i><br /><br />This just begs the question, why? Is there nothing better to do on a 3G mobile phone? Here's an idea, stream the actual baseball game - with real people playing. Not just some silly cartoon version.

Probably a technique to limit bandwidth usage. Less bits required to instruct avatars what to do, and what sounds to play than send pixel by pixel and stream audio.
