The “auto-adaptive” phone will apparently snap pictures periodically, and then build a theme based on what it sees."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/sonytheme.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />Just when you think you have seen it all. Does that mean that my theme would change automatically between, oh I dunno... pocket lint, small change and car keys ... and maybe wood-grain whe it's sat on my desk.

Why? Just... why?

I don't want the camera in the phone in the first place. Darn sure don't want it snapping pictures randomly.

You're sitting on the toilet, with the phone clipped to your belt.

Now, for weeks you see a theme on your phone involving a picture of a toilet!

Brilliant, Sony!

You think they could use their technology to increase functionality, usability, etc. Instead they work on this nonsense

And that might be the "Best Case" scenario... imagine what it could be with just an unfortunate angle! :o

If they've done this right, it could be really cool. Say over the course of a week, the camera records various pictures, drops all of the extreme shots (all the overly dark and light ones) averages out the remainder, and picks the most medium colour from what remains. It has the potential to be kind of cool, but I imagine it would get old quick. :)
