As topic stated, any suggestion for a passive car mounting kit? I thought I saw one that mounts onto the air vent that looked pretty decent, but can't seem to find that link now.

TIA

Try this Google Search link (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=car+mount+c500)... ;-)

Some of them seem expensive but look perfect.

I would recommend the ProClip or Brodit, (http://www.brodit.com/) pricey but have high quality. I have their iPaq 2210 windshield based holder. Look for under Mobile Phones->Passive->Orange C500 in the list.

I bought a pretty decent one from Verizon. (Actually the verizon store inside the CircuitCity store) Mounts to the vent and works great. It was only $15 or $20...I forget.

Though the one linked above seems nicer as it is made specifically for the phone. But, as often as I go thru phones...I dont like screwing ANYTHING into my car that may soon need to be replaced. :D

The good thing about the Pro-Clip is that it comes in two pieces. The part that clings to the A/C vent is specific to your car, and the part that holds the phone is a separate add-on. I like this concept. But it is pricey. :-( But lets you change the phone/PDA part when you change it.

And love the quality.

Even if it doesn't need to be replaced, I would rather not screw something to the car, and ruin the resale value. Even if you plan on driving it into the ground, it's still better to take care of it.

How's the Santa Fe working out encece?

It's great except for one flaw....
...after a foot of snow, the 4WD didnt kick in.

Do you have any ideas how it works? It's supposed to go on automatically. But my wheels were spinning like I didnt even have it!!! Any ideas?

8O That's a big flaw. I would love to offer some advice, but we didn't get the 4WD version. :( Let me ask a buddy who has one. I'll see what I can find out for ya.

Oh, and have you looked under the passenger front seat? We had the car for a year before we found that.

That's it, the ProClip for Audiovox SMT5600 (http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpath=106&pageid=8827&processor=content&pcategoryid=13475&categoryid=14121&p_origin=106&p_sectionid=106&p_pageid=758&p_processor=asp&p_asp_processor=product&p_action=proclipcategorysearch&p_ppagecategoryid=13876&p_pagecategoryid=13877&p_pcategoryid=13475&p_categoryid=14121&p_sitecategoryid=&p_year=)!

No drilling or hacking of the interior is involved with this kit. Base plate snaps onto the gaps above & below the air vent, phone cradle is then fasten onto the base plate. Smart design, and not too bad for $19.

Thanks Kris :way to go:

You don't have to drill holes. And it is the best. But did you order the Base Plate? The base plate goes with multiple device mounts. (I like the concept). Here is one for my car (http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpath=97&pageid=8088&processor=content&pcategoryid=12954&categoryid=12998&year=2000&p_origin=97&p_sectionid=97&p_pageid=737&p_processor=asp&p_asp_processor=product&p_action=proclipcategorysearch&p_ppagecategoryid=13872&p_pagecategoryid=13873&p_pcategoryid=12954&p_categoryid=12998&p_sitecategoryid=&p_year=2000) and it is $29.95, so $29.95 + $19.95 is the total cost for the car mount. :-) :-(

Under the front passenger seat there is a hidden drawer for storing personal effects like Passports and such. It's very will hidden.

I just bought a Belkin kit from Staples for $14.95. Here's the link to the Belkin website: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=89&pcount=&Product_Id=159889

BTW, Belkin offers a 50% discount with the coupon code 12345.

The only bad thing is that it's a bit flimsy. However, I tested it out all day yesterday in my Accord and the phone didn't fall once. I keep it on the vent next to my driver-side window and would be very apprehensive of leaving it in the clip with the window down.

Since I wouldn't use it very often, I'm happy with it. I like the Proclip one but $50 is steep for me.
