<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.ppcw.net/?itemid=2221' target='_blank'>http://www.ppcw.net/?itemid=2221</a><br /><br /></div><i>"It happens from time to time, you are in hurry in the morning and you leave your home but also leaving either your wallet or your Pocket PC (Phone Edition) or mobile phone. If this happens to me, I feel completely naked. It's less a problem if I leave my wallet at home but it becomes a serious problem if I leave my Smartphone. You can always borrow money from friends or co-workers but how to borrow personal communication facilities? Therefore, everything &lt; 20 minutes I return to pick-up my Smartphone something never happened if i forgot my wallet (at home - for sure not at a restaurant or other public places). ... How much do you miss your mobile phone if you forgot it at home and do you return also to pick it up while you don't return to pick up your wallet?"</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Kris-Jan05-CellphoneMissing.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />Our friend Arne Hess, over at PPCW.Net has posted an interesting thoughts article, which talks about a scenario that I am sure everyone has experienced at least once. I agree with Arne, I can survive without my wallet but cannot without my Smartphone. That is why I rarely forget my Smartphone but have forgotten to pick up my wallet a number of times. In fact I remember one time I got my haircut and when it was time to pay for the service, I found that my back pocket was empty. But thanks to my Smartphone, I pulled up the credit card number and was able to pay for the service. 8) At times I feel sad for relying heavily on the <i>electronic memory.</i> From phone numbers to birthday reminders to credit card information, everything is on my Smartphone. And I am sure once I get married, I will even put my anniversary date in Outlook...<i>just in case.</i> So how do you feel when you forget your mobile companion at home? This is a nice sequel to the other thoughts article that was posted <a href="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=48636">recently.</a>

I've left my wallet, my wedding ring, my watch, and even my laptops power cable behind. However, I have yet to leave the house without my Smartphone (or from the days before I had a Smartphone - my Pocket PC). :D

Let's hope it stays that way!

I wish the time would come that drivers license, credit cards could all be on the smartphone or PDA and good be scanned or beamed from there when we wanted or needed to use them. Then we wouldn't need to carry around a wallet.

I have 2 phones and a PPC. If I leave any of them home I go back and get them. Weird eh?

With my MPx220 I have all my info and I forget about my nice hx4700 unless I am traveling (WiFi) and my wallet that I do forget sometimes too. The only thing I really worry about is not having the security apps on the WMSP side like we do on the WMPC side. I just don't liket the idea of getting my phone stolen and my personal data is out there.

I agree, the Settings->Security->Enable Phone Lock is functional. But I don't think I have heard of many phone lock customizations for the Smartphone.

I would also like my carrier or manufacturer to offer SMS/OTA based device cleanup (or hard-reset). The moment I know that I have lost my Smartphone forever, I can call an 800 # or send an SMS to my Smartphone and instruct it to destroy the memory contents. (The carrier based model would be better and reliable.)

I've owned a Pocket PC and/or Smartphone since early 2001, and I've carried one of those devices with me every single day.

I, too, have forgotten my wallet before. I've forgotten my keys. I've forgotten my work ID card. I've forgotten my wedding ring (only once...believe me!). I have NEVER forgotten a device!

Am I a geek or what...?
