Mobile-review.com member Bios has posted what appears to be slides from a Samsung presentation, that shows the concept designs Samsung is working on. Both the designs look cool and are based on Tri-Band GSM. :P

The first one is based on Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003 Second Edition [pictured on the left] and has the following specs: fast 500MHz processor, 1 Mega Pixel camera, 65K color screen and miniSD. Click here to see the complete details.

The second one is based on Windows Mobile "Magneto" features a 3GB hard disk drive and is aptly codenamed "HDD Music Smartphone". This one looks like it has all the ingredients to be a big hit. It sports a 262K color screen with a resolution of 240x320. It has USB 2.0 for quickly syncing those big music files. A jog shuttle navigation system instead of the traditional joystick/joypad. Click here [the third slide in the post] to see the details of this concept.

Also mentioned in the post is a Pocket PC Phone Edition based prototype. Check it out over here [second slide in the post]. Wonder when these models will hit the store shelves?

Hmmmmm I don't think Samsung had anything to do with pulling those on a Sunday afternoon.

Yeah... if you read through the end of the thread, the site's moderator decided to preemptively pull the slides. They may be back up tomorrow. ;)

my wife uses a Samsung S300 that's worked without issue for almost 2 years. now if Samsung can create a flip WM Smartphone that doesn't have the @#$%ups like Moto, i'll jump in line to get one...

I am sorry (no offense to Samsung or Samsung Phone owners) but Samsung designs mostly have been more like the 80s (or I mean the 90s).

But these two look pretty cool.

The Pocket PC Phone Edition prototype should get a facelift before launch.

Oh I agree with that, I used to own an i600 also. I think it was an aberration from their usual clunky designs.

"Clunky" is the right word...

Sounds great. Looks like convergence is starting to seep into the music industry. I expect to see more music phones in the near future.

I would like to hear more about the upcoming Windows Mobile "Magneto" release. :D

Really excited by the higher resolution on the Smartphones and USB 2.0. That should become standard on others too.

It would be nice to see Samsung create a GSM Windows Mobile device, and these look pretty nice. Even the flip model has a little stlye going on. 8) :D

I'm really interested in the HDD Music Smartphone. But how is it going to be having a hard disk spinning right next to your ear?

I like the next-gen Smartphones based on Magneto. DirectX! :P

Have these been confirmed to be GSM?

Have these been confirmed to be GSM?

The slides did mention TriBand GSM.

But then these are concepts or prototypes. They may hit the stores or may not. Or may undergo some changes, like, ported over to CDMA instead of the current concept which is based on GSM. ;-)

You do have a good point..I never thought about the noise from the spinning disks in the HDD. :?

I might be HAPPILY upgrading from my SMT5600 to the "HDD Music Smartphone" as soon as it's released.

I have to agree with the iPod-ish like design on that samsung phone - very cool. I got burnt by both Samsung and Sprint several years ago and have shied away from the samsung hardware brand...

I'm still waiting for something cool to hit the US market - outside of Moto which seems to really be the only GSM game in town now - sigh...

Can you imagine Moto, now famous for the incredible audio performance in the MPx220, coming out with a player phone?

hmmmm....Samsung asked MSMOBILES to remove their story and photos. Did they ask you to do the same?

Not that I have heard. However, we'll have to wait for Jason to wake up before we know for sure. ;) Besides, we don't have much posted here. We linked out to all the information. (Except that pretty little picture in the original post - back at the start of this thread.

I was really disappointed that neither of these two phones, especially the "HDD Music Smartphone," was shown at the 3GSM World Congress 2005.

I was really looking forward to find out more about these phones.

Has anyone seen or heard anything about these phones since the news broke?

I dont think I have come across any major (or minor) Samsung related news story from 3GSM.

I dont think I have come across any major (or minor) Samsung related news story from 3GSM.

What about the i270 (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,7645)? It's not from 3GSM or a Samsung press release. But it is new info from Samsung. Of course, it's a different phone than the ones in this thread.

Samsung did make some news..big news at 3GSM...

I have to admit, as ugly as some of Samsung's phones are. My old i600 was the most solidly built and nicest looking phones I have ever had. I kinda miss the damn thing.
