Hi,

I just read your article about the recent FCC approval for the new Samsung I640/645 - so I was wandering When will the new Samsung I645 be available from Verizon?

Brgds,

Brad

There has been no official announcement on this device, and thus there is no official time/date when we can expect to see it made available.

With that said, it is my guess, that we'll see this phone before the end of the year. Don't hold me to that, it's just a guess.

Ya... Just goes to show how good I am at predicting the future. This is why I don't play in the stock market any more.

Is there any new information regarding a release date for this phone?

Thanks,

 Not that I've heard. :( I guess my prediction was a little off, eh? With any luck it will be out before the end of this year.

Have heard mid year, but who knows? Doubt if even VZW does.

EDIT: I was wrong, it's dead. :(

They might be waiting for the new MS mobile OS too :)

Well, for all we know it could be released with 2003 - not even SE, or worse, 2002!

The sad thing is that is entirely possible!

That's probably a good move -- gives Microsoft the time to work out some of the glitches.

I just noticed over at Phonescoop that the i645 has been bumped back to a Q3 release. Rather pathetic if you ask me. That'll be a year or almost a year from FCC approval.

If there is a silver lining perhaps it'll be running Magneto when and if it ever sees the light of day.

On another note I played with an Audiovox 5600 today. What a nice device. If only there was GSM coverage where I need it.

All the rumors and info seem to be around the new i730 PPCPE, and one person had mentioned to me that both phones may come out at the same time. I haven't seen any new info on i640/645, so I am just wondering if anyone has any updates?

*bump* :) My i600 is long in the tooth now. My 2yr service contract is coming to a close. Surely VZW knows some of us i600 users will jump ship if there isn't a replacement available. :(

I'm very tempted by the Audiovox SMT5600. I have GSM coverage where I need it too.

Anyone have *any* drop of info? It is starting to feel like the original i600 rollout. It took nearly a year and a half between FCC approval and Verizon approval. heh I'm not gonna play that game very time I want a new phone. :(
