Yes but which ROM version would this be? :worried:

My guess, is that this would be the new ROM, since it is marked as shipping in 1 - 2 weeks. But that's only a guess.

Well, not quite for sale I guess. If you try to add the non-contract price phone to your cart on the right side of the page, it does not add it to your cart!

If you use the regular link and add it to your cart then proceed to selecting a plan, there is a link that says "buy this phone without a service plan". If you follow that link, it says "This item is not stocked or has been discontinued." So it looks like they aren't offering it without a service plan at this time. :(

I am posting all over the same message. Hold still and don't do anything until we see how this all unfolds. I ran out and bought my 220 from BB. Much as I like it I should have waited.

I know its tough, but you can do it! Don't go into the light!!!!

If there is no intent to sell it without a contract its very deceptive then!

Oh, I agree. I'm hoping it's just a glitch with the new posting and that things will be resolved in the very near future.

Also I believe we don't know if this one is unlocked or not. The $399 price is cheaper than the Best Buy price of $500.

And for some reason it is not available for my zipcode. :-( Glad that I already own one.

One of the big points of the mpx220 is the quad band world phone ability. Which means they have to leave it unlocked, or its not a world phone.

They don't have to unlock it for that. As long as it is Quad band, and the carrier has roaming arrangements with other carriers around the globe, it would still be useful.

Mike you have a good point. Now that almost every carrier has roaming agreements, and not to mention really high per minute roaming charges, it makes more sense to keep the quad-band phone locked. I mean more sense from carrier's point of view. ;-)

That sets them up to get taken advantage of by the competition. If Cingular all locks their phones T-Mobile will sell unlocked phones and they get an edge on the customers. That also would create a bigger base of "rouge" cell phone users who get their phones from 3rd parties who only sell unlocked phones. Cell phone companies want a chance to get these people in service contracts.

If you notice cell phone companies don't like to really let you know that you can switch carriers with unlocked phones, if you ask them about using it in Europe they will tell you to buy an overpriced sim card here before your trip to Europe. They even told my father that it was illegal for Americans to buy it in Europe, which is a bunch of garbage. People are more than happy to sell you the sim cards in Europe.

I just got my MPX 220 from Amazon. It has orange sticker on the box and the rom version is .342 the latest version. It is unlocked and is working perfectly with T mobile. I actually paid only 399 (w/o plan) compared to Best Buy which is selling it for 499 (w/o plan).
