It is time to take a look at the Orange c500’s brother to unveil the differences between both phones. The SDA continues the line of T-Mobile’s MDA (MDA stands for Mobile Digital Assistant, SDA for Smart Digital Assistant) and is the first Windows Mobile Smartphone in T-Mobile’s product portfolio."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/tmobile-sdasmall.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />msmobiles.com has done a nice photo review of the T-Mobile SDA Business Edition. The best part about the review is that it is in English. :-) The review compares the SDA with its sibling the C500 (wish it had comparison shots). The T-Mobile SDA has the dreaded GAPI/gaming bug similar to the C500. And another interesting observation that I found posted in the comments on the site was that the SDA (20mm) is almost 20% thicker than the C500 (16mm). It will be interesting to see how the sibling rivalry will unfold in the market place.

This phone looks great, but assuming it's the same as the i-Mate SP3i, 25% thicker and the only difference is the 850 band is added? Are there any other difference? 25% seems like a lot - must be a different radio chipset inside?

Great review though!

Plus an additional 1mm for the rounded buttons. ;-)

I hope the extra thickness is to accomodate a bigger battery.
And I hope NOT that the extra thickness is to accomodate the two extra buttons. ;-)

I can't wait until someone reviews the SDA Music edition.

I admit that I have my eyes on that one. I'm going to let the MPX220 run by me now - as I think that T-Mo has 'em beat with this phone.

Now I wonder how I can convince T-Mo that they should allow me to buy the phone in the EU, but keep my same US phone number and extend my contract by 24 months with them .... so I don't have to pay full price

hmmm - any suggestions?

AFAIK, there has been no "official" word. Unoffical word is that T-Mobile US will push the new BlackBerry hard, and then push these phones.

Lutz, you should post your t-zones screen shots over here. It's simply amazing at what T-Mobile's done with 'em. :)

Danke!

I wouldn't mind forking out $4.99/month if T-Mobile US could get their t-zones to look like that. :)

Bitte!

do they really charge some 4,99 on top for that in the us?
if you lokk at the offers there (+ stands for free, * stands for extra charged content) t-mobile should give the access to it for free. i see alot of potential in it for t-mobile to make it a usefull extra for the first time. i will try to get to the international t-zones next week. i come back as soon as i see t-mobile getting it done for outer germany too.

cheers (viele gruesse), lutz

why oh why do we in the US have to wait so long?!?! - T-mo in Germany is on top of it - they really need to move that stuff to the US because no other carrier offers anything close to this - sigh...

I'm really leaning at getting that SDA Music - and luckily I versteh Deutsch  so I could even live with the Germany OS if need be...

I just don't see anything close to this in the US until like summer or fall of 2005. I certainly will NOT wait that long.

Well, not that it helps your wait any, but to put it in perspective, Windows Mobile smartphones have been out for 2+ years in Europe, and T-Mobile DK is just now rolling out theirs.

Hopefully T-Mobile US won't make us wait two years. :D
