Soneira of DisplayMate suggests the tablet device is not fully charged even when the on-screen meter says 100 percent."</em></p><p><img height="241" src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/wpt/auto/1331425284.usr105634.jpg" width="600" /></p><p>When I first charged my new iPad, I thought it took longer than it did on my old one, and apparently it does. It takes up to 5 hours to charge the new iPad, and according to<a href="http://www.displaymate.com/iPad_ShootOut_1.htm" target="_blank"> this report</a>, when it says it is at 100%, it really isn't. The solution is to let it stay on charger about an hour after it hits 100%. And this isn't just an iPad problem per Dr. Soneira, it happens with numerous devices. So this is a good heads up, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a problem. What are your thoughts?</p>

Sounds like the reporting issue with signal strength a while back - Digital reporting of a physical non-digital process (signal strength *or* battery usage) is coding guesswork ... I'm guessing that we'll see fixes at some point in the near future. My new iPad uses up the battery seemingly much faster than my iPad 2, based on reading the screen. And no real differences in apps ...

Same here. But since it's pushing double the resolution (quadruple the pixels) there's no free lunch. Even the much bigger battery can't quite seem to compensate for that. I feel a but less confident in the battery life of my new iPad than I did of my iPad 2. But oh that screen... :D
