I think the publishers know about it too.

Check out the Osborne site. The book will have a new cover.

Great! So instead they've picked another phone that has yet to ship.

I almost didn't realize that was the MPx100. It looks a lot like the new T-Mobile SDA device. (from a quick glance)

I bought the book since they have my story towards the end in a Voices from the Community section. It is a pretty decent book, although the must have section is quite a bit different than what I think most of us would have recommended and you can tell the author isn't a gadget freak like us who know all about Smartphones.

It is kind of funny how much they talk about using Voice Command on the Smartphone when the product hasn't even been released for the SP yet. The cover shows a couple shots of the Motorola MPx220 and no longer has the 100 on it.

The book does do a good job of helping new Smartphone users out and overall I would recommend it to people.

Nice! Which story is yours? Can you share it with us? :)

I left the book at home today, but it uses my real name, Matthew Miller, and my real job, Senior Engineer at The Glosten Associates. Most people know me as palmsolo from PDAGeek.com, but that is just my PDA alter-ego and where I spend time when I should be sleeping :D

The section is on page 338 and from what I can remember states something about using the SPV E200 for photo blogging, quickly finding and calling contacts, and using Handmark Express.

Thanks for the feedback and recommendation. I am sure our readers will appreciate it.

The cover talks about "creating presentations". How do you do that?

:-)

There is a section, that I haven't read yet, on creating presentations using what I thought I read was IA Slideshow. I haven't done any research on this and would imagine it would be quite difficult to create a slideshow on a Smartphone device, although you may be able to give one using a Margi SD PTG card or something.

I can check out the section later tonight and post back exactly what they are talking about.

Chapter 13 is titled Powerpoint Presentations on Your Smartphone and discusses how to view PowerPoint presentations on your Smartphone, transfer PP files from the computer to your SP, and how to use ClearVue, and Pocket SlideShow.

I really don't see the practical use for presentations on your Smartphone since I don't believe the Margi SD solution works yet and can't imagine showing someone a slide show on the Smartphone display. I would like to see a Bluetooth projector and then that would be a cool solution. Then again, battery life will have to get much better for showing presentations to be a useful application.

BT projector, now thats a cool idea. Actually that is in line with one of my BT wishes.

Using the desktop keyboard to input text into Smartphone via BT. This is useful for composing E-Mails or SMS, when you have a Pocket PC/Laptop or Desktop to use with your Smartphone. And having the screen replicated on the Desktop or Pocket PC even better. :-)

BTW: Thanks for looking into the PPT topic.
