I tried it several times, and while it actually said that the switch was completed, it never did, and the LTE/4G service never worked, despite re-starting a couple times. I finally just canceled the old service and signed-up for new service. Worked out okay, as it's now $5 (US) more for another GB of data.

I do wish that there were a family plan, as I added my wife's new iPad as well, making for more confusion, as we now have two iPhones, two iPads, and U-Verse service, all with different billing and accounts (each with its own userid and password).
