Over the last couple weeks there have been a couple of viruses released for mobile phones. So far, they all seem to effect Symbian-based handsets, however, it's not unreasonable to see that this is just the start, and Windows Mobile-based handsets will soon see their fair share of attacks.

Of course, it would make a difference if these viruses where real. Fortunately, outside of the original concept virus found a number of weeks back, all we have seen is a combination of bad coding and marketing decisions. Mobile Mosquito premium rate SMS "Trojan" turns out to be a poor attempt at copy protection
Makers of "Resident Evil" games launched a mobile virus gimmick for promotional purposesFor both of these examples, the media has jumped all over the news. Spreading fear among the mobile phone community. It's unfortunate that we are seeing these types of deceptive practices in the mobile community. Are Windows Mobile for Smartphone devices immune to this? Not at all. However there is little to be concerned about at this point.
