View Full Version : Precharge the batteries on an i600?

When I picked up my i600 today from the Verizon store, they told me that I could go ahead and use the batteries without charging them.

I know that LiIon batteries suffer no permanent memory effects (in theory, my laptop ones suffer from it frequently), but I am under the impression that charging the battery to full and then discharging it after a few partial cycles will maximize the life (as in the number of months of use) of the battery.

Feedback?

I'm no battery expert, but my understanding with Lithium-ion is that you should never fully discharge the battery. Also, I have heard that it should be charged at varying intervals for various amounts of time.

It is important to make sure when your battery is fully recharged, that you remove it from the charging cradle. One very large problem with Lithiums is over charging. I still continue to cycle my batteries, no matter how much these companies claim no memory effect exists. It has not failed me yet.
