The standard set of pre-installed applications are included with the handset, which offers a generous 64 MB of ROM coupled with 32 MB of RAM. Not so common for Windows Mobile smartphones, however, the SGH-i250 also offers full support for J2ME MIDP 2.0, as well as speaker-independent voice dialing and navigation, integrated Bluetooth and a miniSD slot for memory expansion purposes."<br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/samsung_sgh_i250_01_smaller.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />This phone was announced back at CeBIT in late March. I don't know how we missed this news. Does anyone else think this phone looks like the model used in the latest Samsung commercial?

I like Samsung phones quite a bit. Hope this does come out and there is a GSM 850 version for North America.

Looks like a potential competitor to the MPx220. Here's also hoping there will be a 850MHz version...

Reading the description I was crossing my fingers for a "regular" SD slot instead of miniSD but no luck. That would have differentiated it in my mind (vs. the MPx220) even if the tradeoff was a little extra size.

The one thing I like about the phone...it has an antenna.

I don't get good reception with my MPx200, at the place where I live and the building where I work. And MPx220 will, I am guessing, be almost the same. This one looks promising.

How come Samsung hasn't made any formal announcements(its been 2 months since CeBIT)? And how come we haven't heard any rumors regarding this phone and spy shots?

Cool! OK - now how do I get it?!?

AUGH - the frustration of waiting for the 220 or this - which one will be out and when!?!?

The Smartphone world is a strange one right now. People are loving the un-announced, un-official MPx220. They just can't get enough of it. To the point where other really cool official phones are being totally ignored. Here is a list of phones that we know are official and are going to be released this year, and possibly soon:
C500 from Orange - Amazing small and light weight
Mitac Mio 8390 - Good size flip phone, lacks Bluetooth
MPx100 - Small, with 1.3 MP camera & Bluetooth
SGH-i250 - flip phone with 1.3MP camera, J2ME
Voq - cool fold out keyboard, no Bluetooth or camera
Sagem My7-S - ?? I've forgotten all the details of this one...

I'm sure I missed one. Anyways, some of these phones have all or more of the features that the MPx220 is rumored to have and they have been officially announced.

You ask we we haven't seen any spy photos or anything on this Samsung phone, it's because it's not stamped with Motorola MPx220.

Sorry...its based on GSM, so has to be for T-Mobile, AT&T etc...

Mike, that's a pretty long list.

And that list frustrates me even more...why is that we have to wait for the future  I am tired of waiting :-(

The interesting thing is all of them, I believe, are GSM based.

I just wish that anyone would finally kick one of these much talked about 2003 smartphones out the door so we could finally start buying 'em. I'm hoping that with the month of July now almost here taht we'll start seeing some new press-releases...

chalk another one up for wishful thinkin' folks...

Agreed. All I need is an MS Smartphone with WM2003, Bluetooth, and (if GSM) the 850 band. At this point, it really doesn't matter which hardware manufacturer (i.e. Motorola, Samsung, etc.) OR wireless provider (AT&T, Sprint PCS, etc.) it is, just whatever combination of those is availible first is what I'll buy.

These posts were in June and July. Now almost October. Has this phone (Samsung SGH-i250) actually come out anywhere?

Any further news about it?

Isn't it odd that the big manufacturers Samsung and Motorola are having trouble launching Smartphones or are not eager to do so. While the smaller ones are using the opportunity to capitalize on the market.

I say GO HTC!

If anything I've been put off by moto - and the carriers that are suppose to be launching their devices - please... release them or shut up!
