Only to forget by the time you get to your desk? John Cody’s new Vnotes aims to help solve those problems. In a couple button pushes you can record a voice note and set a reminder, so you won’t forget. You could also take that very same voice note and email to yourself in 2 clicks.

John Cody’s Vnotes is available for unlocked 2002 and 2003 devices. There are way to many features in Vnotes for me to mention here, so I will just gloss over things. You’ll have to check out the website for a complete feature set. The Lite version offers Enhanced voice note management, the ability to specify where notes are saved, organize and group like notes in the same folder, move and rename notes, and more. The Lite version is available for only $12.95. The Pro version builds upon those features by adding email support, reminders, locking individual voice notes, locking the whole application, and an auto-logoff feature, and more. The Pro version is regularly priced at $24.95, but we have worked out a special deal whereby Smartphone Thoughts readers can purchase Vnotes Pro for only $19.95 until the July 5th.

This looks like a very cool app - I used to use the voice recorder on my Pocket PC a lot, but the problem I'd have is that I'd record the voice message and then forget to check the Notes folder for things I had recorded. The fact that you can attach alarms to the voice notes will help remind me that I've recorded. Good work John!

I like it and really need it in these times since my PPCPE is down and now all of the weight has been shifted over to the SP. Great app John!

:D This is just what I have been looking for. One of my most used programs on my ipaq is RemindMe, After emailing Applian many, many times to port it (and receiving the standard answer--Smartphone is too hard & different) This program may just fit my needs. I look forward to playing with it to see.

I have noticed that it perhaps "may" have too many steps to start recording, BUT this is most likely my initial immpression. It looks like a lot of thought went into this app....Good Job!

I really look froward to submitting my recommedations to John via the really nifty "Voice Support" option where you can just email a "Voice-note" directly to the support center! Cool... 8)

What I would really like to see is perhaps less steps to record on the fly...AND the ability to map the start of recording to the "Record-Button" on my i600...THAT WOULD ROCK 8O :D

But you know what, since i have been writing this reply, and playing with Vnotes at the same time, I have decided to purchase the Pro version because it really is what I need...and one more reason to leave the ipaq at home!....(now if i could just get Landware to port PocketQuicken, I could get rid of my ipaq!)

Thanks John for a great program!! :D

I think you are talking about the prompt to name the recording. This is configurable! Look under options and you can tell it to prompt AFTER your record. Very cool.

I agree. When I suggested this to John, he mentioned that his program can handle the recordings from the default record program on the phone. So use the built-in record function and then you can just move it over to Vnotes!

Thanks John for a great program!! :D

Agreed AGAIN! This app has really changed how I use my Smartphone, and my Pocket PC for that matter (now that I can do notes and reminders on my Smartphone  ).

WOW that is cool....Thanks. STILL, I wonder if it is possible to map to the record button to launch Vnotes, maybe in a future update? (Please!

Another enhancement (minor) for this and several other smartphone apps would be for entering calendar dates. It would be nice if when "prompted" for a date, a month view of the calendar would pop up (like PPC apps) to allow you to choose a date (and actually see the day/week). When you have to physically enter the actual date (i.e. 12th etc) you may not have picked the right day that you intended....Does that make sense?

Anyway, no gripe on this software, especially for version 1.0!! Once again, GREAT JOB!

If anyone needs a great voice-reminder-notes program, buy this! :D
