This picture is from CoolSmartPhone and they have a list of specs for this phone too. You can check all that out here. (http://www.coolsmartphone.com/index.php?option=news&task=viewarticle&sid=823&PHPSESSID=0880aa44f0aeaaf039b1422e5cde5a8e) Not to be out-done, MGN has a rumored released date which is coming up very soon. Check out their news post here (http://www.mpx200.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=1481) and the form post in question here. Now, if we could just get Motorola to officially announce the phone we would be all set.

Did you read the forum post I linked to? Because if my math is correct, July would be wrong.

So, do we have any theories why Motorola has not officially announced this phone? The mpx220 is my ideal phone, but with no official announcement I fear that the reality is much further away than the rumor mill suggests.

It seems to me that Motorola would have every incentive to announce its new projects and upcoming devices because the free publicity and opportunity to update shareholders and inform potential investor can only help sales.

Why do you guys think Motorola has said nothing official about this phone? I would have expected the formal announcement right along with the mpx and the mpx100 if it really is coming in a month.

I agree with you Ben - the lack of anything offical from Moto has my doubting the rumor mill of anything before July... sigh

My thoughts on this is that Motorola is trying not to pull a Palm. Since the 220 is a direct replacement for the 200 (well, almost  ), they are trying to keep it as hush-hush as possible.

Ben has an excellent point. I think there is far more incentive for Motorola & AT&T (or whomever the launch carrier will be) to announce than to keep quiet. If there really is a product coming soon I don't get the strategy at all. The longer you make people wait the more likely they are to go elsewhere. Especially given the lack of a WM2003 upgrade for current products I would think they would want to entice early adopters to stick with it by showing them a clear upgrade path.

I also don't get why Microsoft isn't pushing more. It doesn't look good for them to have so few products in the pipeline and I would think the Microsoft marketing machine would provide incentives to announce products... and deliver... quicker when you're trying to penetrate a new market segment. I don't know, it all just doesn't make sense to me and I'm done waiting.

I remember first seeing a V600 on motorola's website back in late 2002/early 2003, expected availability : 2nd half of 2003.

And it actually came out around mid 2004.

So, if mpx220 is expected to be out on july 2004 ... with the same math, that will be july 2005 =)

Nice looking device. Can anyone confirm if it is a mini-SD or regular SD slot ?

All the reports I've seen indicate it will be mini-SD. :(

Oh well, that is just about the only drawback I've seen thus far. :D

Does anyone know, by any chance, what the resolution of the camera is supposed to be?

It's 1Mpixel, with a flash/"camera light".

Correction: 1.3Mpixel.
