The other day I was checking out the Alienware website looking at the DHS systems, (http://www.alienware.com/dhs_main.aspx) and the Aurora Gaming systems. (http://www.alienware.com/system_pages/aurora_ddr.aspx) I don't own any Alienware hardware, but they make some really cool systems and they are always very customizable. Allowing you to pick from the highest quality components on the market. This got me thinking; What if Alienware made a Smartphone? You could customize it from their website, adding and subtracting features until the device was exactly what you wanted. Here's what I would get: 128 MB of Memory
BlueTooth
WiFi
Higher Resolution screen
some sort of integrated Fastap or slide-out keyboard
5 way control pad - none of this joystick stuff
Metallic Green or maybe Red
2 SD slots
small form factor
I still haven't decided about the Clam-Shell or Candy-bar thing. What does your dream device have?

I'll go with everything you listed, make it clamshell and add touchscreen that can be turned on or off. :)

Oh ehhh, make mine black or silver. :D

Here's my wishlist (a modified version of yours):

• 64 MB of Memory (I really don't need more than that with an SD card)
• BlueTooth
• WiFi
• Higher Resolution screen
• 5 way control pad - none of this joystick stuff
• Bright red or yellow would be sweet :-)
• one SD slot (if I have integreated BT + WiFi, I don't think I'd need two...)
• small form factor
• Clamshell
• GOOD POWER MANAGEMENT (unlike the SPV E200 and it's silly SD card bug)

2 SD slots has been a long time request for me. You would think that would be an obvious addition for future phones. (one would need to be SDIO of course!)

One for programs, maps, home screens, etc.. Stuff that you will always have with the phone. The other for music and pictures. Stuff I change on a regular basis. 8)

Exactly! Currently I have to install my movie players on the phone instead of the SD in case I wish to pop-in another SD with a 200MB movie on it. (Spiderman 1 is currently on mine using betaplayer).

2 SDs would allow me to keep my programs loaded on one. And interchangable data on the other.

Add a screen that can be read in bright sunlight. (350 sunny days on average here)

Everything you listed, plus a Qualcomm MSM 6700 (http://www.cdmatech.com/solutions/products/msm6700_chipset_solution.jsp?A=&L1=&L2=) chip so it supports CDMA as well as GSM.

Oh, and I forgot. A small swivel camera using folding lense with zoom (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0405/04051801sonydscf88.asp) so that it can shoot video, as well as point towards your self for video confrencing.

And one model without the camera for bussiness users who can not have camera at work.

ah sweat dreams.... I can't wait until some smart vendor really comes up with something like this - so who will be the Dell of Smartphones?

Well, to be honest. You could have it done anytime. But you'd be paying alot just to get 1 unit done. Or you could get it cheaper by having 100k units manufactured.

Several places in China do that, custom based cellphones, etc. But either way, it's gonna cost you a bomb. And it's not easy.
