Today, the first pictures of this model, supposedly called MPx220, have emerged. A Flash animation file showing this Windows Mobile device has been posted in the forums of MoDaCo. This makes it clear that, unlike its predecessor, the MPx220 will have a Bluetooth and a VGA camera."<br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Motorola_MPx220_1b.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/>

Are those two new buttons at the top left/right of the directional pad?

Meet my next phone!!!

I wonder how much Cingular would push this new phone. See my post in this thread about how Cingular buying AT&T may not be the best thing for WM Smartphones -

As a T-Mo customer, all I care is that they're going to carry it. :)

This phone plus their data rates = w00t!

I don't think so. Those would be the soft menu buttons that are found on every MS SmartPhone from the looks of it.

No joke! &lt;Why the hell didn't I catch that?> :D

Guess I'm so used to them being right next to the SEND/END buttons on my e100 that they looked "new".

Thanks!

I didn't know T-Mobile was going to carry this device. Is there a link to this news?
T-Mobile data prices might be okay but at GPRS speeds they are a bit pokey compared to CDMA 1xRTT. I just wish Sprint would come out with a WM phone. Now that would be killer! Sprint has low data prices with near 3G speeds.

No link to the news -- it's what was verbally told to me from my company's T-Mobile National Account Rep when we were deciding which phones to initially roll out with. Others have heard the same from their reps.

GPRS is definately pokey compared to 1xRTT. 30-40kpbs vs 70-90kpbs.

We went with T-Mobile because of their international voice/GPRS service, and the fact that they'll let you tether (or BT) your phone to a PDA/LAPTOP for no additional fee. Sprint wanted a whole lotta money to do that. :(

They allow that eh? Now that is interesting. Yes for a laptop user unlimited data with a phone connected as a modem is definetly better than a limited metered data service even if its at a higher rate. Depends on the application I suppose but for normal email checking and light browsing etc it should be good enough. Problem is Sprint is fixated with allowing unlimited access only from their PDA/Phone type devices and not as a modem. I guess maybe if they lose too many customers to T-Mobile for such things then they might rethink.

Any news on when T-Mo would be releasing this? June? July? I so badly need a new phone (current is a Motorola P280 - yah I know)...

Like I said earlier today (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5065), I think it's hideous. However, the odd perspective and rough edges on the external screen on the second photo suggest to me that these are modified or altered images, and may not represent the final product. I hope that's the case, because this thing is blocky, disproportionate, garish, and just plain ugly.

I was hoping it would look more like the LG X6000 (http://i.timeinc.net/time/gadget/images/photo_lgphone.jpg) or the Audiovox CDM-8910 (http://www.infosync.no/news/2004/01/29/gfx/audiovox_cdm-8910_01.jpg), or even Motorola's own V300 (http://www.4ukphones.com/motorola/motorola-v300-large.gif). External aesthetics are important to me, but at the same time, I really want a Smartphone 2003 device. :(

Additionally, wasn't the external screen supposed to be in full color, not monochrome or three-color?
