I've been poking around trying to find ringers. Bought a 10-pack from ringophones.com. Downloaded Pink Panther, but it just sounds like a beep. Anything I'm doing wrong?

What kind of files are they? Smartphone 2002 can only use wav files.
Midi files will be able to be used in the 2003 OS.

That answers it then. They were midi files. I've since downloaded some more WAV files and they work fine. Thanks!

You could for example download the Microsoft PPCPE Ringtones Pack. After installation, you have to move the files manually, but there are some really cool ringtones there... and for free :-)

Geez, the download keeps hanging. I'll try downloading it tomorrow at work. Thanks for the tip.

Don't forget about the boatload of ringtones that Jason made and posted on our downloads page: http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/downloads.php

Sure, it's a little over 1mb, so if that is OK with you, just PM me your emailadress :-)

Thanks to TopDog for sharing the file. :D

You can snag it here until MS fixes their link:

It's just a whee-cable modem hosting it, so my apologizes if it goes slow!

I'm disappointed that the MIDI files won't work. They had the Jaws theme as well as Pink Panther.

Are there any other sites that offer these types of ringtones that will work on the Samsun i600?

Just get the real songs in wav format and use them as your ringers. You can get Ethel Mermon singing the star spangled banner. I'm currently using the theme from GoodTimes....not the musical version...the SONG with singing and everything.

Why limit yourself to a crappy midi when you can play a whole WAV file....well around 30 seconds at least (that's why TV theme songs work so well!)

I guess I'm lazy and don't feel like truncating my huge WAV files down to sizes that will work on the phone. I did download some good songs from MoDaCo. coolsmartphone.com also had some good sounds for ringers, reminders, alerts, etc. I changed my ringer to the theme from Austin Powers. They had some good quotes from the old Muppet Show too.

It's nice that you can get creative on your phone.
