<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=94441' target='_blank'>http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=94441</a><br /><br /></div>Paul over at MoDaCo is fed up with the prices of GPRS rate plans in the UK, and he's asked us to help spread the word on a new petition he's created:<br /><br />"Do you believe that your SPV NEEDS Flat Rate GPRS to be worthwhile? Do you feel the networks aren't listening to the customer with regards to GPRS charging? Would you consider switching networks to get Flat Rate GPRS? Then sign the 'Petition for Reasonably Priced Flat Rate GPRS' by <a href="http://www.ipetitions.com/campaigns/MoDaCo-1/">CLICKING HERE</a>. We CAN make a difference! A paper copy of the petition will be produced and delivered to the major networks at a (TBC) future date."<br /><br />I'm lucky enough to have flat-rate GPRS from <a href="http://www.fido.ca">Fido/Microcell</a>, and I have to admit that if I was paying by the MB, I wouldn't use my SPV in the same way. Having flat-rate allows you the freedom to access any information you need to, anytime you need it. Counting MB and worrying about your bill curtails the proper use of a Smartphone. I hope that Paul succeeds in convincing the UK-based carriers to offer flat-rate GPRS, and a big thank-you to Fido for offering flat-rate GPRS. :way to go:

This is a great idea. I had (virtually) unlimited gprs with my SPV for the 1st 5 months, and it was great. Now, I don't get anywhere near as much value from the phone, as I don't check email regularly, use the browser etc due to unknown costs. It's a shame.

This is something that is really needed! Not only for Microsoft smartphone users either but for users of other smartphone platforms and all GPRS enabled phones.

I work for one of the carriers who will be launching Smartphone very shortly... One of the things i'm trying to get a grasp on is usage.

I've heard from some folks that they're using 15 MB/month, and they're syncing multiple times/day.

Is that consistent with what you're seeing???
